Wicked Weather & Wicked Busy!

WOW...what's been happening around here? TONS!

This week was the beginning of Summer Quarter for New England Tech. I'm teaching 3 classes this time around - Access Programming and 2 XHTML classes. The one difference this quarter is that one of my XHTML classes is completely ONLINE! So...I was a little bit nervous about how it would work.

Luckily, it turned out to be a BLAST! Many major benefits of teaching online...

  1. I can do it from home.
  2. I can just wear a t-shirt and shorts because I'm at home!
  3. My class doesn't require a web cam - SO, no one really has to see me, meaning, I can come as a grungy version of myself to teach the class! hehe
I have 6 students in my class, 4 of whom showed up. (It's not required that you be at the weekly lectures, but you do have to listen to the recordings if you miss it!) We use a software package called Elluminate, which gives us a white board, desktop sharing capabilities, chat room, and other stuff like that. It worked REALLY well!

At the same time, while I was hooked up with headphones and tethered to the computer, we had a nasty thunder storm come through! In fact - we had a waterspout/tornado too! Luckily, I was able to get through the class before the power went out!

In fact, the last two days have been crazy for weather. Major thunder storms - 3" of rain just yesterday! We do need the water, but if we could just spread it out a bit, I think it would be easier to take! (Today is sunny - yay!)

That's about it for me...the kids are good. Ryan's a menace, Megan is just as sweet as can be. I'm sure we'll have more to post later - especially with Megan walking everywhere. It's just so cute to see her little legs get her around! :)
