We interrupt this vacation...

...for a trip to the eye doctor! (You're not going to believe this one!)

Somehow, two nights ago, Megan scratched my cornea with her fingernail. It was in the middle of the night while we were sleeping. She woke up, I turned over to find her binky or something, and she caught my eye just right.

Well, yesterday I woke up knowing that something wasn't quite right, but I thought that my eye was just irritated. Nope...as the day went on, it got worse. By the time we got home from visiting some friends at about 9:30 last night, my eye was completely red, watering, and pretty painful!

I didn't want to go to a walk-in clinic because I knew that they'd just say that I needed to go to an eye doctor. So when we got home, I asked my mom if they knew one. She immediately picked up a phone and called Dr. Rowley (who is also a member of the Bishopric in their ward.)

In 10 minutes, he was here at the house, putting dye into my eye to see what was wrong. Unfortunately, he saw a cut in my cornea, which meant we had to drive (all the way) to Payson to his office.

He numbed my eye, cleaned it up from the stuff that had accumulated inside the cut (3mm), dropped a bunch of antibiotics in it and then bandaged it with a silicone contact lens. Ahhhhhh... relief! I can take out the contact lens tomorrow, and I'm dropping more antibiotics into it until then. But I'm SO thankful that someone was close by and that I didn't have to go to a clinic or spend the morning today finding a doctor!

...now back to our vacation!

PS - I found out the next day that Brian Rowley, my emergency Eye Doc is a good luck charm! Check out this article! (In case you don't want to click - the only two times he attended ANY Boston Redsox games at Fenway, they were BOTH No-Hitters!)
