Traveling with 2 SMALL children - a post trip analysis

OK, after surviving 4 plane rides total, here's what I'd do again and what I'd do differently.

Things I'd keep the same:

Thanks to Andie for this GREAT tip - I went to the dollar store before we left and bought a whole bunch of things to keep the kids occupied. If I had to, I pulled out something new. We even had new things for the trip home!

Things I wouldn't do again:

Take BOTH car seats. I can see how this would work perfectly for one child, but it didn't work for us. Yes, they were both comfortable in their seats, but we were outnumbered! Two adults, 2 kids (one that needed to be carried all the time, and the other one that had to be "wrangled" all the time), two carry ons (one with all the diaper paraphernalia and the other with all the dollar store goodies and treats) strapped to our backs, AND 2 BIG BULKY car seats just isn't practical! There was no way we could get on to and off the plane easily. We did have a luggage cart that we strapped the seats to when we were in the airport, but there was nothing we could do but haul the seats down the aisle one by one. It was a REAL PAIN! So... this Fall when we go to Florida for a wedding, we will try the little CARES harness thingy (if we can still borrow it!) for Ryan and we'll hold Megan. We'll rent car seats at the other end if we have to!

And Ric's Answer...

Go alone without the kids! :)
